Always something happening

Just stepping off the water I can tell you many things happening out there, lots of big fish being caught this year, plenty of bugs, and we are just getting started. Can hardly wait for whats ahead.

March Brown spinner falls have been excellent last couple nights on the Ausable, with water temps in high 50s to mid 60s,and water levels excellent.Other regional rivers, Saranacs to use as a great example, keep your eyes out for Strong Caddis hatches, and a dense abundance of Sulphurs at times.Definitely starting to move some big bruisers in the pocket water with big foam hoppers and stoneflies in size 6,and8.

Food for thought for those of you that tend to stay away from big drys, the Ausable tends to be more of a big fly river, and these big monster drys have proven there worth, after many years, and many happy clients. For those of you fishing the Saranac river, these Trout tend to eat many more Crawfish than most stream Trout, that being said I have found certain Brown Stonefly nymphs to work well,Teds Stone being  one of them.
